No doubt having a child is the most wonderful thing parents can experience. I have been blessed with an adorable and precious daughter named Ellie. It’s truly a miracle to see her grow from inside the womb to almost a 11-month girl now. If I am writing this post and you’re reading it, we were also at one point of time a baby. And somehow we were incredibly successful babies. We started with almost nothing in the brain, limited mobility, unable to speak, and sleeping 20 hrs a day. Yet, we did it! We did it! Sadly on our way to adulthood, we forgot what made us successful and loved as when we were babies. We have to put on our “seriousness” mask, we have to “behave” in society… work, work, work, and no more time to play. And last but but least: STRESS. Where the heck did that come from? No wonder many of us feel success is out of reach.

I observe Ellie day after day and I know she is a happy baby. Here are a few things I learned from her:

Everything and anything is a playground. If you can infuse fun and play in whatever you do, you are already happy.

Fail, fail, fail, until you succeed. You probably forgot all the bruises and bumps before you could walk.

Don’t take “NO” for an answer. Actually, “NO” is the start of the conversation. No matter how many times I say “NO”, she keeps doing it. Very challenging!

Move on. Resentment, vengeance… those are adult stuffs; not baby stuffs.

Ring the alarm. If you feel the situation is out of control, call for help. If you don’t, a baby would be smarter than you are!

Learn, learn, and learn. “Knowledge is power” Samuel Johnson.

Be fearless… it won’t kill. Why are those children always laughing, crying, and running during the mass?

Do no evil. Yes, Google is a big baby.

My wife always wishes our Ellie stays a baby forever. She might be right after all. What are you still waiting for? Go and find the baby in you!
